Congratulations Butty and Flair!
Congratulations to Butty and Flair on passing their first test to become therapy dogs! Dan and Joshi have been working with the dogs toward this. Butty is such a mellow dog we figured that he would pass. Dan also took Flair along to see how she would do and acclimate her a bit. I thought she would fail with spastic, spinning colors. Flair is 14 months old and still acts her age. Not only did she do better than Butty, she was one of the top performing dogs of the day. Huh? My spazy Flair? Life is full of surprises. Now they have three more tests to complete. With the examiner, Dan, Joshi and the dogs will visit hospitals and a nursing home to see Alzheimer patients. After their certification, I am looking forward to visiting nursing homes with the children and dogs. Dan is looking forward to having Butty lay at his feet while he reads MRI's at work.Friday, January 25, 2008
Poodle Freaks
Many of you know we love our poodles, but hopefully we have not gotten too weird with them . . . yet. We gave Butty his first Continental Clip last Saturday. Yes, that is the fluffy, sissy cut that you think of when you think of Poodles. Knowing that some of you love Butty also I thought you'd get a kick out the following pictures. Those are dreads on the top of his head.

Benroyal Dreaming of Chocolate (Mojo) retired from the show ring. Two years in a row at #2 nationally is not bad. There was a family party to celebrate the shearing of his coat. His new look amuses me, fluffy on all six ends. He looks like Cleo from "Clifford the Big Red Dog" but not lavender colored. (I am blogging about my dogs' hairstyles. We are freaks). In Mojo's whole life he has never been free to run, bush wack and get muddy as he is now allowed. Its like he has two years of pent up wild dog in him. He loves to crash through the bushes down by the river. He still has not jumped in the James.

Puppies Leaving
3/11/07
We placed our third puppy this weekend with another loving family. We said goodbye to Powder, Maia and Zayne's favorite, Snopow. It is a bitter sweet experience. I enjoy seeing them go to such wonderful families and look forward to picking up less doo-doo, but I will miss each of their distinct personalities in our home.
Why do I often cry while watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition? Does anyone else feel manipulated emotionally watching this show?
